Architecture

It's been a couple of months since I last updated my blog, but I have some drawings to make up for it! Yay! I have been enjoying my summer drawing the architecture and environments of my travels. This drawing is of one of my favorite cottages in Pebble Beach. After many years of admiring this house I finally drew it while traveling to Monterey. All my architecture drawings are created in pen.

On a SketchCrawl trip to Palo Alto my buddy Diego and I ended up drawing architecture at Stanford. This is a quick sketch of Stanford's art building viewed through a grotto of trees. Here is Diego's page to view more awesome art of Stanford: http://drawnbydiego.blogspot.com/

I came across this building and I instantly fell in love with it. It's an old brick church with hay roofs, which was built over a tree. After many years the tree growth has taken over the building. It was like something out of a fairytale and I couldn't pass up drawing it.

  1. Nice stuff, Alysse. Good to see you and Diego still drawing during the summer. It is so easy to fall off on the drawing. I think only a few of us were keeping up with our art blogs.

Are you taking Arthur's class? If so, I'll see you Tuesday.

  2. Thank you Ralph! It's good to hear from you! Diego and I started sketching around the Bay Area at least once every week. We're trying to keep up our drawing skills and make sure we have solid portfolios.

I saw that you taught this summer! I hope it was awesome! I wish I could take Arthur's class again, but since I was in 166 last semester I am not able to. I loved that class!

I hope you are doing well and have fun on Tuesday!
